Colours in Dalloway

I'm Feeling....

Each character in Dalloway can be easily connected to one emotion, feeling, or idea. Now, each colour I have is connected to a character and one of their most distinct traits.

Richard(red)- I'll admit, I went a bit political with this one. Because of how conservative Richard is, I thought that the colour of the republican party fit him well. He can't even tell Clarissa that he loves her, due to the fact that it's been so long. Their marriage is very much out of conformity, rather than love. This easily explains the reason that they're still together.

Clarissa(grey)- I chose grey to represent Clarissa because of the fog that she puts up between herself and the rest of high society. Though she has married into money which prevented her from following her own passions. She still feels much contempt for the shallowness of her peers and believes that she is above them, at least in intellectuality.

Sally(blue)- She is the opposite of of Richard in so many ways. Sally, like Clarissa, is extremely disgusted by high society and they used to plan of revolution together. Though she also married a man, she has kept more distance from the high society than Clarissa.

Peter(green)- I chose green for Peter for the most obvious of reasons. He's jealous of Richard, who has Clarissa, and he's jealous of Clarissa for knowing exactly who she is. (even though she might deny parts of herself.
